Training resumes at RSKC

Rossendale Shotokan Karate Club is delighted to announce the resumption of training starting 20th August.
Due to the continuing situation with Covid 19 and the impact it has had on the availability of training venues we are able to offer only limited training initially.
Following risk assessment by the Committee we can provide the following:
For the immediate future we will offer adults (18+) training at the AB&D Centre in Bacup. It is likely that this venue will become our Honbu dojo for the foreseeable future – (Shawforth Chapel Hall has not yet instituted COVID secure protection, and it seems unlikely that we will be able to return to Haslingden primary School even after they reopen in September, at least in the short to medium term.)
Training will be offered on the basis of both Government and KUGB guidelines. This is to afford protection to our students and instructors which is the Committees primary concern.
Initial classes are limited to 7 adults – this being the maximum permissible in the available space under the guidelines.
The initial classes will be on Thursday evenings at 7.00pm until 9.00pm. The class will last two hours.
The first class will be on Thursday 20th August
All places will have to be booked in advance using the online booking system now available on the Club website www.rskc.org/online-bookings/
A strictly first come first served system will operate.
Failure to attend a pre-booked place will still incur the cost of the training session.
Cost of the training session will be £6.00 and payment must be made in the dojo using card -no cash payments will be accepted.
Normal family discounts or monthly payment discounts will not apply – each session must be paid for individually.
Face Masks must be worn entering and moving through the AB&D Centre to the dojo.
Hand sanitizing stations are available and must be used on entry.
Your temperature will be checked on entry to the dojo.
You must have a valid up to date license to train – this will be checked on entry.
Training footwear is mandatory for all training sessions – there will be no barefoot training.
IF YOU DEVELOP ANY OF THE COVID 19 SYMPTOMS
RAISED TEMPERATURE
NEW PERSISTENT COUGH
LOSS OF SMELL OR TASTE
YOU MUST NOT ATTEND TRAINING – follow Government guidelines for isolation and Test and Trace.
Your sensei will explain the specific controls for distancing and avoiding infection during the training session.
Modifications to training exercises to maintain student and instructor safety are necessary and should be expected.
2 metre distancing will be required and will be enforced throughout the training sessions.
Within the constraints placed upon us we will provide the best training we can – the need for 100% effort, dedication and attitude from everybody attending training has not changed!
If the demand is there we will put on additional classes – again initially for adults, and hosted at the AB&D.
Children’s classes will require additional controls to segregate age groups-we are still assessing how best to achieve this. Further to this we have decided to wait to see what further controls may be required following schools reopening in September.
Our intention is to re-institute childrens training as soon as we can safely do so.
We look forward to welcoming all our students back to the dojo – these initial training sessions are hopefully the first steps which will lead us back to all members training and enjoying our art together.
If you have any questions about the recommencement of training please do not hesitate to contact any of the Senseis or committee members by phone, private message on Facebook or through the Club website.
