Training update

A message to our members.

Whilst the 12th April changes to the covid restrictions means we could possibly run a very limited children’s only class at Bacup, the committee has decided to wait until the DCMS has formally approved karate as a combat sport, so we can return to a more normalized training regime when we do reopen.

The DCMS is the government department that is responsible for sport and return to play guidance during the covid pandemic. Please refer to the government guidance at for the most up to date information.

Next review in March

We will review the training situation again in March once it has been announced that schools will return to full attendance.

New year training review

Do to current tier restrictions, we do not expect training to be able to resume in January.

As a guideline under the tier system we can only consider restarting children’s classes when the Rossendale area is back in tier 2.  For adult training to restart we will need to be back in tier 1.

We will review again in February, hopefully with better news.

For now, stay safe and make the best of the new year you can.

All training suspended

Following the government announcement regarding the nationwide lockdown starting on November 5th we will be suspending all remaining classes for children throughout this new lockdown period.

We will review the situation again in December to see if it is possible to resume any sort of training after Christmas.

November bookings added

Bookings  in November for the Children’s group 7-12 years have been added.

Children’s training is unaffected by the tier 3 lockdown restrictions.

We will continue with the Bacup class for this group whilst there is a demand for it.  We have been in touch with the Haslingden Primary School and we will review the possibility of training there again in the new year.

Adult training is suspended whilst our dojo is under tier 3 restrictions.

Covid tier 2 restrictions

IMPORTANT information

We have suspended the Adult and family group classes after reviewing the guidance for the tier 2 covid restrictions. We are waiting for the KUGB to issue their interpretation, but until then we have to suspend this Thursdays class for adults and the family group class.

Training for children is unaffected, so the children’s class is still on.

We will let you know as soon as we can when we have a update from the KUGB.
